1.Enemy at the Gates
My favorite movie because it combines so many of the things I like. Warfare, WWII combat, historically accurate weaponry/characters etc, snipers, Russians dying. It is exciting throughout the movie, and it's a movie I have watched multiple times (I very rarely do that EVER).
2.Avatar
Yes, I know that it's kind of cliche to have this on my top 25. But man, the special effects are amazing. It does copy the plot of Pocahontas exactly, but it's a cool and sci-fi twist on the old Disney classic. To say that it's a terrible movie because of it is just wrong.
3.The Bourne Identity
This series in general is great, but the first movie is the best of all of them. The action is legitimate throughout the movie, very little of it is over exaggerated like most action movies. The driving scenes are always well done and the plot is very plausible.
4.Saving Private Ryan
Classic WWII movie. It's a great movie, and, like Enemy at the Gates, I enjoy the historical accuracy of this movie. The actors in the movie are very popular now-a-days, however I'm not a Tom Hanks fan, otherwise this may have beaten Enemy at the Gates.
5.Green Street Hooligans
This movie was added to my queue solely because it had Elijah Wood, I wanted to see if he could act beyond a hobbit. That's questionable, but the movie was great. Never would I have imagined soccer to create such a fun movie.
6.Inception
I don't know if it was the movie or the experience of viewing it in the theaters (haha oh Chateau for melting the movie...). Most definitely the movie was good, it was a total mind blowing movie with twists and fantasy. One of my favorite things about movies are those that aren't predictable, which is Inception.
7.Inside Man
This is a great crime thriller. It is an amazingly well written movie, and the ending is one of the best I've seen of any movie, and this is by far my favorite crime thriller movies.
8.Master and Commander
Russel Crowe is a great way to get a movie a good rating in my book. Great actor. Not only that but this was an amazing movie. This is an awesome movie. Not many movies have been done that take place solely on a ship, and very few can provide an insight into naval warfare in the 1600s.
9. Man on Fire
This is an excellent movie. The editing and acting (which normally don't amount to anything when it comes to rating movies for me) were phenomenal. Storyline was amazing as well, there is a quote that stuck with me "His art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece."
10.Starship Troopers
Classic sci-fi. This movie was probably the first sci-fi movie that I had ever seen. I remember exactly where I was when I first saw this movie. It's a great concept, and one that cannot be reproduced well (they tried...and failed).
11.Gladiator
Seeing a pattern here? The opening scene is what gets it on this list. Roman warfare is something that will always gain my attention. Like many movies on this list, it's historically accurate (for the most part), and it's an awesome gladiator movie.
12. The Hurt Locker
Excellent war movie, and it was respectful to the army and its personnel. Normally war movies are, but with the war in Iraq being so unpopular people tend to produce movies that favor the negatives of our situation. This movie was excellent in acting and directing with realistic conflict. Nothing was over the top as far as the acting or action.. It was just enough to make an excellent film.
13.The Last Samurai
Tom Cruise is one of my least favorite actors. It may be because of the whole Oprah show he put on. But my dislike for him was outweighed by the movie.
14.300
I loved this movie from the first time I saw it. This is one of the coolest works of film that I've seen. It was a very unique method of shooting/editing a movie. The dark colors contrasted with the blood and everything was an amazing addition to the movie.
15.The Recruiter
As mentioned in my little tidbit about Inception, plot twists are amazing. This movie did not disappoint in actors and in plot.
16.The Strangers
Watching netflix makes horror movies pretty much worthless. They all have the same plot for the most part. However, this one was different. It was very well done.
17.I love you, Man
Comedy used to be my favorite genre of movie, however lately they've been terrible. This one was hilarious.
18.Crash
Wayyyy out of my comfort zone. Racial dramas? Not my thing. But this one was great because of how they interlinked all the stories throughout the movie. I very much enjoyed this movie, even though I went into it with a very biased view.
19.Dead Poet's Society
This was unexpected to me. Robin Williams has done some pretty terrible movies (Toys anybody?) but this movie was great.
20..Eagle Eye
Oh what a cool concept. Big Brother meets Computer Science. This movie is up here because it's something that we may see in our lifetime.
21.Pan's Labyrinth
What? A foreign movie on my top 25? This was a very unique movie, one I did not expect to like due to the fact that you had to read it.
22.The Kingdom
Not a very well received movie in general, but I enjoyed it. It was quite an exciting movie.
23.Knowing
Nicholas Cage can be rather annoying in his acting style. But at least the special effects in this movie outweighed that fact. I wish I could divulge into my favorite scene but that may ruin it for some.
24.The Number 23
Another one of those creepy movies with an insane plot. The concept was a stretch that everything added equaled 23. But I felt it was a good, dark movie and Jim Carrey's acting was rather good considering his normal movie.
25.Phenomenon
Watched this awhile ago, but it's a pretty cool movie.
Honorable Mentions (Ones that have been kicked off by new additions):
The Lost Battalion
Righteous Kill
